The
8th annual Applause Street Theatre & Buskers
Festival hits the streets of Albury on Saturday
17th October from 11am - 6pm.
Applause 2008 was hailed "the best Applause
ever", as everything came together for a brilliant
mix of circle shows, music, amateur performers,
pavement art, community activities and circus skill
workshops. As the only street festival of its kind
held annually in Albury, the audience welcome and
love of the event is almost as warm as the weather!
The festival will again this year welcome several
guest artists with international busking experience.
As our program is finalised, we'll let you know
who to expect, but be prepared to be blown away
by extreme talent and large quantities of silliness.
Applause also provides a wonderful opportunity for
festival buskers to come along and perform throughout
the day. We'll have 3 dedicated performance sites
for these acts who range in age from 6 - 66 and
everything in between. Festival buskers do it for
the chance to be a part of a great day and of course,
the audience reward, and if past years are anything
to go by, we'll have a fabulous mix of music and
dance by some very talented artists.
Our final applause concert kicks off in QEII Square
from 4pm and will once again be hosted by our festival
fave, Shep Huntly. The concert is a celebration
of all of the day time performances and is beautifully
placed under the shade, on the grass of our main
square. The day wraps at around 6pm after a good
time has been had by all.
Our full program including new and established workshops,
guest artist profiles plus pics and descriptions
of all of our acts will be available from mid September.
